For new pilots, the typical first career is as a paid flight instructor where they will fly approximately 1,000 flight hours training students to become pilots. After gaining sufficient experience, several career paths are available including corporate/executive flight operations, regional airline pilot, and cargo pilot. Senior airline Captains can make well over $200,000 per year while flying the most prestigious aircraft in the companies inventory. A new skill is useless without putting it into practice.
